Frequently asked questions
What is a salary certificate in the UAE?
A letter from an employer, on company letterhead, confirming that a person works there, their job title, joining date and monthly salary. Banks, embassies, landlords and government services ask for it.
What must a UAE salary certificate include?
Company letterhead, date, the employee's full name as in the passport, nationality, passport number, job title, joining date, the monthly salary (usually split into basic and allowances), the purpose, and the signature and stamp of an authorised person.
Does a salary certificate need a company stamp?
Most banks and embassies expect the company stamp and an authorised signature. Some banks also ask for the original to be addressed to them by name.
What is the difference between a salary certificate and a salary transfer letter?
A salary certificate confirms employment and salary. A salary transfer letter is a commitment by the employer to pay the salary into a specific bank account, usually for a loan or credit card. Banks often give their own format for the transfer letter.
Can I make my own salary certificate?
The certificate must come from your employer. This tool helps HR teams and small businesses prepare it quickly; the employer checks the details, signs and stamps it.
Should the salary certificate show basic salary separately?
It is best to. In the UAE, gratuity and several benefits are based on basic salary, so banks and authorities often want basic and allowances shown separately.
A template to save time. The employer is responsible for the accuracy of the certificate and must sign and stamp it.
