Frequently asked questions

What is an experience letter?

An experience letter (or experience certificate) confirms that a person worked for a company, in which role and for which dates, and often lists their main duties. New employers, universities and licensing bodies ask for it.

Is my employer required to give me an experience certificate in the UAE?

Yes. MOHRE guidance for employers says that when the contract ends, the employer must give the worker a free certificate of experience on request, showing the joining and leaving dates, total service, the job and the last wage. This generator covers that, plus optional duties and conduct.

What should an experience letter include?

Company letterhead and date, the employee's full name, nationality and passport number, job title, start and end dates, main duties, and the authorised signature and company stamp. Many also add a line on conduct and the reason for leaving.

What is the difference between an experience letter and a relieving letter?

An experience letter describes the work done. A relieving letter confirms that the employee has handed over and been released from duties. Some employers combine both in one letter.

Does an experience letter need attestation?

For use abroad, for example for a professional licence or immigration, it may need attestation by the relevant authorities. Check what the receiving organisation asks for.

A template to save time. The employer is responsible for the content and must sign and stamp the letter.
