Frequently asked questions
What is an NOC letter in the UAE?
A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is a letter in which an employer states that it does not object to something the employee wants to do, such as travel, apply for a visa, take a part-time job or apply for a loan.
What should an NOC from an employer include?
Company letterhead and date, who it is addressed to, the employee's full name, nationality, passport number, job title and joining date, exactly what the company has no objection to (with dates for travel), a no-liability line, and the authorised signature and company stamp.
Do I need an NOC from my employer to travel?
Many embassies ask for an employer NOC or leave letter with a visa application. It usually states the travel dates, the destination and the date you will return to work.
Do I need an NOC for a part-time job in the UAE?
Part-time work is allowed under the UAE Labour Law, and many employers and MOHRE processes ask for a letter from the main employer. Check your contract for any rules on outside work.
Is an NOC needed to change jobs in the UAE?
Generally not for private-sector employees under the current Labour Law, but some free zones and contracts have their own rules. Check with the free zone or MOHRE.
Who signs the NOC?
An authorised person such as the HR manager, general manager or owner, with the company stamp.
A template to save time. The employer is responsible for the content and must sign and stamp the letter. Requirements differ between embassies and authorities.
