Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data My Business Setup (mybusinessetup.com, “we”) collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. Effective 28 October 2026.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
mybusinessetup.com is an independent information website about working and setting up a business in the UAE. It is not a government website. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
2. What we collect
When you just browse or use a calculator
Our calculators, letter generators and search run in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us unless you choose to email yourself a result (see below). Like every website, our server and our network provider receive technical data with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, which is kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
When you send us an enquiry
Our setup enquiry form collects your name, email and/or phone number, and what you tell us about your plans (for example emirate, number of visas, timeline and your message), plus the page you sent it from.
When you email yourself a result
If you use “email me this” on a tool, we collect your email address and the result summary you choose to send. If you tick the box to receive updates, we add your email to our mailing list; you can unsubscribe from any email.
Golden Visa document checklist
If you use the checklist upload form, we receive the details and documents you choose to upload, which may include identity documents. Please only upload what you intend to share with us.
Chat
Messages you send through the chat window are stored so that we can reply.
Quotation app for consultants (MyBusinessSetup Quotes)
- Account data: your name, email, password (stored only as a secure one-way hash), sign-up date, how you found us (for example a referral link) and login times.
- Business profile: company name, contact details, address, website, logo, VAT registration number, default terms and, if you choose to publish it, your public profile text.
- Quotation data: the quotations, line items, notes and terms you create, and the client details you enter (name, company and, if you add them, email and phone).
- Shared quotation activity: when a shared quotation is opened (date and count), and any response your client sends (their name, choice and message).
- Usage events: counts such as sign-ups, quotations created and links shared. These events do not contain quotation contents or client details.
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and send you the information you asked for.
- To run the quotation app: your account, your quotations, sharing links, client responses, and service emails (email confirmation, password reset, response notifications).
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse (for example rate limits on forms and logins), and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site and app are used and improve them.
- To send updates only if you opted in.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your quotation or client data for marketing.
4. Your clients’ data (for consultants)
When you enter your clients’ details into the quotation app, you decide what is entered and why, and you are responsible for having a lawful basis to share it with us. We process it only to provide the app to you. Your clients’ email and phone numbers are not shown on shared quotation pages. If one of your clients asks us about their data, we will refer them to you and help you respond.
5. Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers who process data for us:
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the website, the app database, uploaded files and server logs.
- Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the website and processes connection data such as IP addresses.
- Brevo, which sends our emails (enquiry notifications, results you email yourself, app emails) and holds our opt-in mailing list.
- Google Fonts, which serves the fonts on some pages; your browser connects to Google to load them.
A shared quotation can be opened by anyone who has its link. Consultants control who receives the link and can switch it off or let it expire. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
These providers may process data outside the UAE. We use reputable providers and limit what we share to what they need.
6. Cookies
We use only cookies needed for the site to work:
- A session cookie that keeps you logged in to the quotation app and protects forms against forgery. It is deleted when you log out or close your browser.
- A referral cookie (
mbs_ref, 30 days) set only when you arrive through a referral or campaign link, so we know how you found us if you sign up.
Cloudflare may set its own security cookies. We do not use advertising cookies.
7. How long we keep data
We keep enquiry and email-me data for as long as needed to deal with your request and follow up. Quotation app data is kept while your account is open; you can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time. Expired or switched-off share links stop working immediately, but the quotation stays in your account until you delete it. Server logs and security records are kept for a limited time.
8. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, each consultant can access only their own data, shared links are long random codes, shared pages are hidden from search engines, and access to the server is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for updates. Consultants can edit their profile, clients and quotations in the app at any time. Email [email protected] from the address linked to your data and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can unsubscribe from updates using the link in any email.
10. Children
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes affecting quotation app users will be notified by email.
